General Precautions: To ensure optimal performance and longevity, use capacitors according to specified conditions and adhere strictly to the datasheet. Avoid applying excessive mechanical or thermal stress during installation. Do not reuse dropped or previously installed capacitors. Avoid direct contact with leads to prevent contamination. For circuits with potential for instantaneous large currents, series resistance ( 3/Vs) is recommended to limit current below 300mAs; otherwise, use voltage below 1/3 of rated voltage. Tantalum capacitors are polarized; never apply reverse voltage or use in AC-only circuits. Small amounts of reverse voltage are permissible for short durations under specific temperature conditions (10% UR or 1V at 25; 5% UR or 0.5V at 85). Multimeter testing for polarity is prohibited; if accidental reverse voltage occurs, scrap the capacitor. Ensure the sum of DC bias and AC peak voltage does not exceed the rated voltage, and the AC negative peak combined with DC bias does not exceed the permissible reverse voltage.
Environmental Considerations: Operate within the specified temperature range. Voltage derating is necessary above +85. Avoid direct contact with water, brine, oil, direct sunlight, high humidity (condensation), reactive gases, acids, bases, high-frequency wave induction, excessive vibration, or shock.
Soldering: For soldering iron use, tip temperature should be below 350 for no more than 4 seconds, avoiding contact with the capacitor body. For chip types, avoid highly active or acidic fluxes. Wave soldering requires preheating below 160 for under 2 minutes, followed by slow cooling. Ensure proper venting if component density is high.
